# Shopify Events — Shopify Ecosystem Only

## 🚨 Know this first: there is NO Shopify Payments in Turkey

Verified from Shopify's own help center — **Turkey is not** among the 40 supported countries.
Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Croatia, Cyprus, Germany **are**.

Turkish merchants can use Shopify (TRY checkout works, the admin is in Turkish) but they have to plug in **iyzico**,
**PayTR** or **Craftgate**; on top of that come ETBİS (Turkey's e-commerce registry), KVKK (Turkey's
data-protection law), İYS (Turkey's commercial-messaging consent system) and e-invoice obligations.

**Commercial consequence:** There are ~15,000 active Shopify stores in Turkey *(StoreLeads, secondary source —
should be treated as an upper bound since it includes dormant stores)*. The mass merchant base is on
Trendyol/Hepsiburada/ikas/Ticimax, not Shopify.

> **Turkish Shopify merchants are the wrong audience to be the first customers of a Shopify app.**
> There are few of them, they're price-sensitive in a depreciating currency, and they're
> structurally underserved by the platform. **Use Turkey as a cheap base and for travel proximity,
> not for customers.** The money is in rooms in Bucharest, Berlin, London and Sofia.

⚠️ There is **no** event called **"Shopify Commerce+"** or **"Shopify Partner Summit"** — don't waste time searching.
The real one is **Shopify Connect**.

### Does Shopify have an events calendar page?

**Yes, but it's empty right now.** `events.shopify.com` and `meetups.shopify.com` → **[shopifyevents.com](https://shopifyevents.com/)**
(behind DataDome, 403 for automated access). Right now it only says *"This event is coming soon"*.
**Open it manually in a browser** — it's the most valuable page you can't reach.

❌ Return 404 (don't chase them): `shopify.dev/events`, `shopify.com/partners/events`, `shopify.com/events`

⚠️ **Shopify deletes `shopify.com/event/*` pages once the event is over.** If you don't catch past European
events while they're live, they become invisible — which is why subscription channels matter more than directories.

## 2. Shopify partner/developer meetups

There is **no** central Shopify meetup directory. Channels that work:

**Scale check:** the entire Shopify topic on meetup.com is **34 groups, 27 cities,
~11,937 members** worldwide. The Shopify meetup scene is genuinely small — which cuts both ways: a small pond,
but **you can become a recognized face fast**.

⚠️ **There are two groups in London, one is dead.** `meetup.com/shopify-london-meetup/` (1,924 members) —
last event September 2023. The right one is `london-shopify-meetup-group`.

❌ **Places with no active Shopify meetup:** Amsterdam, Paris, Hamburg, Munich (since 2019),
Berlin (inactive since Oct 2025), **the Istanbul meetup.com group** (last event Dec 2022).

## 3. Shopify app vendors' events

These are rooms full of Shopify merchants — because they're merchants who already pay for apps.

## 4b. What you can attend without flying out of Turkey

> **Hard truth: there is no online Shopify event circuit.** Editions is a web page, DotDev
> is Toronto-only and sells out, and there is no active Shopify meetup group in Istanbul/Sofia/Berlin/Amsterdam.
> Reaching merchants remotely means: **forums, partner webinars and newsletters** — not conferences.

❌ **Dead/wrong:** `eCommTalk` (domain hijacked, gambling spam — still recommended in 2026 lists,
a staleness test) · **Shopify Partners Slack** (closed 15 Dec 2025, not accepting new members) ·
`shopify.dev/events` (404) · **"Shopify Dev Sundae"** and **"Shopify Partner Boost"** (no such things exist).

## 5. Prioritized action list

1. **🔴 Email your Shopify Partner Manager (or partners@shopify.com):** say you want to be a
   **partner showcase** at the 2027 **Shopify Connect** Frankfurt/London/Paris stop — **before** the tour
   is scoped. Zero cost, highest ceiling.
2. **Write to Shopney and the Shopify Partner Success people named above:** to attend/host
   Istanbul Partners Meetup #3. **In your own city and not listed anywhere.**
3. **Subscribe today:** community.shopify.dev Announcements · the dotdev.shopify.com signup form ·
   the two Meetup groups (CEE Bucharest, London).
4. **Watch the DotDev 2026 recordings** — free, 2 days of platform/API content.
5. **Decide on London 23–24 Sep** — eCommerce Expo + Shopify Partner Meetup in a single trip.
6. **Wait for the May 2027 Bucharest announcement** — €50, sells out months ahead.

> **Honest warning:** The presence of Shopify's **App Ecosystem** team is not confirmed at any event
> in this file — **except Shopify Connect and the two community meetups (Bucharest, Istanbul).**
> If your goal is **Shopify staff** rather than merchants, Partner Slack/Discord, the Partner Dashboard and
> community.shopify.dev are cheaper and higher-bandwidth than any flight.
>
> And the bigger point: **if you don't have paying users yet, conferences are not your constraint.**
> Everything except the two free items (the Berlin CFP, the Connect email) should wait until
> merchants are already paying you for something.
