📜 Podcasts — Shopify, E-commerce and Indie SaaS
Every show's latest-episode date was verified on August 26, 2026 via the iTunes API or the raw RSS. "Looks active but dead" shows are everywhere in this space — lists like Feedspot still show shows that died in 2019 as "Active". That's why the dead list below exists.

1. Shopify-specific / developer podcasts
| Show | Host | What it covers | Frequency | Latest episode ✅ | Whose funnel | Why you'd listen |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

Recorded live at DotDev | Weekly | Aug 25, 2026 (26 episodes, started Jan 2026) | Light — The Support Heroes partnership | The only podcast that is exactly your business. Listen to how founders found their first 100 installs and how they priced. 26 episodes = one weekend |
| ⭐ Liquid Weekly Podcast | Karl Meisterheim + Taylor Page | Code-level Shopify themes+apps: Liquid, Functions, webhooks, Editions. Interviews with Shopify PMs | Biweekly | Aug 20, 2026 (79 episodes) | Light — newsletter + sponsor | The only place where Shopify platform engineers get on the mic. Don't miss: Ep. 025 — Tobi Lütke on how he created Liquid; the Spring '26 Editions episode; the Shopify Developer Survey episodes (rare data on what developers earn) |
| The Unofficial Shopify Podcast | Kurt Elster + Paul Reda (Ethercycle) | The longest-running independent Shopify show. CRO, theme/tech decisions, platform changes | Weekly (Tuesdays, since 2014) | Aug 25, 2026 (626 episodes) | Yes — the Ethercycle agency. Sponsors are Shopify apps | Elster talks to the person who decides whether to install your app. Listen to the sponsor reads — a live map of which app categories can afford to buy this audience. Don't miss: Aug 11, 2026 "AI is 0.1% of $274M in sales analyzed" — real data that will stop you building a business on AI-commerce hype |
| Shopify Masters / "The Shopify Podcast" | Adam Levinter | Didn't shut down, rebranded. Merchant founder interviews, non-technical | ~2×/week | Aug 25, 2026 (600 episodes) | Yes — for Shopify itself | The clearest signal of what Shopify wants merchants to believe this quarter. Listen for the operational pain the guest complains about in passing — your backlog is there |
| eCommerce Fastlane | Steve Hutt (6+ years Shopify Merchant Success), "Powered by Shopify Partners" | App- and platform-centric merchant growth since 2018 | Weekly | Aug 25, 2026 (481 episodes) | Yes, explicitly — ad target is "scaling Shopify apps" | Not just a channel you'd listen to, but a distribution channel you can buy. Claims: 2M+ downloads, 50,000 monthly listens, 46,000 newsletter subscribers, 89% of listeners on Shopify (all self-reported) |
| ⭐ Shopify1Percent | Jay Myers — co-founder of Bold Commerce, i.e. the guy who built one of the biggest Shopify app businesses | Merchant growth from a brain that builds apps: retention math, subscription→membership, support data | Weekly | Aug 24, 2026 (86 episodes) | Yes — the Bold orbit | The highest signal per minute for your situation. Myers isn't a merchant talking merchandising; he's an app founder explaining what convinces a merchant to pay. Listen to how he reframes a feature not as "merchant convenience" but as "merchant revenue" — your pricing-page problem being solved live on air |
| The Shopify Solutions Podcast | Scott Austin (JadePuma agency) | Concrete setup/configuration walkthroughs | Biweekly | Aug 19, 2026 (192 episodes) | Yes — JadePuma | A list of what merchants ask an agency for. Every request the agency bills by the hour is an app candidate |
| Winning With Shopify | Nick Trueman | Friday interview + Tuesday short tactic | 2×/week | Aug 25, 2026 (421) | ⚠️ Consulting funnel assumed, not verified | High frequency, low depth. Background listening |
| Talk Commerce | Brent W. Peterson | Adobe Commerce and Shopify; lots of short interviews | Several per week | Aug 26, 2026 (445) | Personal/consulting brand | Not for listening — the easiest guest slot on the list. Practice your first podcast appearance here |
❌ Dead Shopify shows (verified via iTunes releaseDate)
Appregator (2022, only 2 episodes — the corpse that comes up when you search "Shopify app podcast") · Shopify Across the Pond (2023, Feedspot still says "Active") · Commerce Tea (2021) · The Commerce Hero Show (2021) · 'Appy Hour (2024) · Commerce Leaders (2025) · Own Your Commerce (2024) · In Conversation with Shopify Plus (2021, Shopify itself) · Vanguard by Shopify Studios (2019) · Der Shopify Podcast (2022)
⚠️ Appisode (appisode.fm) — positioned as "Shopify app founders" but zero episodes published, no Apple feed. A marketing page, not a show.
2. DTC / merchant-operator podcasts
| Show | Host | What it covers | Latest episode ✅ | Whose funnel | Why you'd listen |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ⭐ Operators | Sean Frank (Ridge), Mike Beckham (Simple Modern), Matt Bertulli (Pela), Jason Panzer (HexClad) | Nine-figure owners saying the real numbers out loud: margin structure, tariffs, wholesale vs DTC | Aug 26, 2026 (206 episodes) | Yes — 3-show network → newsletter → sponsorships (the real revenue) | A listening device for how big merchants make buying decisions. 2026 sponsor count: Fulfil 40, Northbeam 36, Saras 36, Postscript 34 — a map of which categories have budget. And listen for the moment they say "we built this ourselves" — that boundary is your market |
| Marketing Operators | Cody Plofker (Jones Road), Connor MacDonald (Ridge), Connor Rolain (HexClad) | Pure paid marketing: Meta account structure, creative testing, incrementality | Aug 25, 2026 (139) | Same network | How marketing-adjacent apps get evaluated and thrown out. When they describe a measurement gap, they're telling you the hole an app would fill |
| ⭐ Honest Ecommerce | Chase Clymer (Electric Eye, Shopify Premier Partner) | Short structured interviews with 6–8 figure brands — i.e. the segment that buys apps | Aug 24, 2026 (556 episodes) | Yes — the Electric Eye agency | The highest signal per minute for your actual buyer, and a realistic distribution target — the midweek bonus episodes are effectively a vendor showcase. Don't miss: Aug 13, 2026 "ADA Demand Letters: How TestParty Defends Shopify Brands" — a Shopify-app-shaped company pitching its own wedge on this show. Study the positioning, then pitch yourself |
| eComFuel Podcast | Andrew Youderian | Ownership questions: hiring an integrator, investing profits outside the business, getting out of stagnation | Aug 21, 2026 (655 episodes — the longest) | The clearest funnel on the list — paid community $199/mo (7-figure) / $299/mo (8-figure). ⚠️ Vendors and service providers are explicitly banned from membership — the podcast is your only way in | The annual State of the Merchant report is the best public dataset on what the mid-market merchant uses and spends. Listen as a threat model: Aug 21, 2026 "Building a Claude Code First Company" and Mar 14, 2025 "How a non-programmer cut $150K in SaaS fees with AI" |
| ⭐ The Andrew Faris Podcast | Andrew Faris (AJF Growth) | Craft-level Meta media buying + unusually candid agency-business-in-public content | Aug 24, 2026 (301) | Yes — AJF Growth. Intelligems (Shopify A/B testing app) sponsored 34 times | The single most important episode on this page: Apr 2, 2026 "My COO Replaced 7 Software Tools With One Vibe-Coded App." Seven SaaS subscriptions cancelled and rewritten in-house |
| Ecommerce Playbook | Taylor Holiday + Richard Gaffin (Common Thread Collective) | The most numbers-driven show: analysis of $1.4–1.5B of Meta spend across the CTC portfolio, DTC Index, contribution margin | Aug 25, 2026 (452) | The most aggressively productized funnel — Prophit Engine, ADmission, DTC Index | Two reasons: (1) benchmark data you won't find elsewhere — real CAC/ROAS across hundreds of brands; (2) CTC is openly making the services→software transition; watch how they package and price it. Don't miss: Aug 20, 2026 "Ecommerce Growth With a Money-Back Guarantee" — guarantee-based pricing, directly stealable |
| Limited Supply | Nik Sharma (solo; Moiz Ali left in 2024) | Pivoted hard toward AI tools for brands in 2026 | Aug 19, 2026 (190) | Triple yes — agency, Workweek sponsorships, putting his own angel portfolio on stage | Constantly talking to early-stage commerce-software founders. Don't miss: Jul 29, 2026 "Stop Building Landing Pages by Hand" — the keep-in-house vs buy line, from a buyer's mouth |
| My Wife Quit Her Job | Steve Chou | The small merchant / side hustle end: Amazon FBA, Etsy, TikTok Shop | Aug 21, 2026 | Yes, heavily — free course → paid course → Sellers Summit conference | The mindset of the price-sensitive segment. If you're selling at $19–49/mo, this is the head you're selling to |
| The Jason & Scot Show | Jason Goldberg (Publicis) + Scot Wingo (ChannelAdvisor co-founder) | Industry/macro news. Deep analysis of Shopify's quarterly results, agentic commerce | Aug 20, 2026 (351) | Soft | Platform-risk radar. They process Shopify's earnings and roadmap as news — which tells you ahead of time that Shopify is about to pull a category into core. One episode a month is enough |
| DTC Podcast | DTC Newsletter / Pilothouse | Near-daily operator interviews | Aug 26, 2026 (772) | Yes — the Pilothouse agency | High volume, medium depth. For scanning titles and catching recurring merchant complaints |
| Ecommerce Coffee Break | Claus Lauter | Short expert interviews, broad topics | Aug 26, 2026 (532) | Yes — explicitly sells sponsorship to SaaS and MarTech | More valuable for guesting than listening. Routinely hosts Shopify app founders. Listen to 3 episodes, decode the format, pitch |
| Future Commerce | Phillip Jackson, Brian Lange | Commerce culture and platform theory | Aug 19, 2026 (600) | Media/research business | Respected in the ecosystem. Frameworks, not tactics |
❌ Dead / dormant DTC shows
Chew on This (Ron Shah/Ash Melwani) — latest episode Jun 26, 2026, the trend is fatal: 14 episodes in Jul 2025 → 1–2 a month in 2026 → zero since June. They went back to the newsletter. Mine the archive, don't subscribe. The single best episode for you: Jun 11, 2026 "Is it Time to Migrate Your Email & SMS Platform?" — a merchant thinking out loud about ripping out an entrenched app. Churn/migration research in one sitting. · DTC POD (stopped since Feb 2026 — don't confuse with DTC Podcast above) · 2X eCommerce (2025) · The Ecommerce Influence (2024) · Adspend (2023) · Whale Informed (2024) · Cart Overflow (2023)
⚠️ "Nine Operators" is not a separate podcast — it's the network/brand name; the show is just called Operators. ⚠️ 2PM (Web Smith) has no podcast — last audio in 2021. It's a newsletter/database business.
3. Indie SaaS / founder podcasts
| Show | Host | Latest episode ✅ | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| ⭐ Startups For the Rest of Us | Rob Walling (MicroConf, TinySeed) | Aug 25, 2026 (Ep. 847) | The closest thing here to your situation, out of everything. Pricing, churn, "should I stay solo" — at $5–50K MRR scale, not VC scale. The "Rob Solo" listener-question episodes are the densest |
| MicroConf On Air | Rob Walling | Aug 26, 2026 | The short version of the above. Don't listen to both, the content overlaps |
| Rogue Startups | Craig Hewitt (Castos) + Colin Gray | Aug 25, 2026 (RS364) | Peer-level, unpretentious, current. Queue up RS362 "Hidden Multipliers with Jason Cohen" (Aug 11) |
| Slow & Steady | Benedicte Raae + Benedikt Deicke (Userlist) | Aug 13, 2026 | The closest emotional match to building a Shopify app solo. "That One Feature Spiraling Out of Control" (Jul 9, 2026) is exactly the failure mode you need to be warned about |
| The SaaS Podcast | Omer Khan | Aug 20, 2026 (491) | Use it as a searchable archive: find founders whose distribution problem resembles app-store discovery, listen only to those |
| Software Social | Michele Hansen (Deploy Empathy) + Colleen Schnettler | Jul 18, 2026 — ⚠️ it's back (Mar 5, 2026 "We're baaaaaack!") | What Michele Hansen says about customer interviews is the best free material on the subject. For a Shopify app, "talk to merchants before you build" is the whole game |
| TinySeed Tales | Rob Walling | Inside the main feed | The only show that follows one founder for 12 months. ⚠️ The old standalone feed is a dead mirror (2020), don't subscribe |
| My First Million | Sam Parr, Shaan Puri (HubSpot) | Aug 26, 2026 | ⚠️ Careful. Entertainment, not craft; the scale is 100× yours. This is the show that will cost you the most focus |
❌ Dormant/dead
The Bootstrapped Founder (Arvid Kahl) — latest episode Apr 3, 2026, Ep. 439. ~5 months of silence after a regular weekly schedule. Likely reason: he's buried in his own product, Podscan. · Build Your SaaS (1 episode since Apr 2026) · Indie Hackers Podcast (ended in 2023) · The Art of Product (2022)
4. Discovering new podcasts and episodes — tools
| Tool | What it gives you | Cost |
|---|---|---|
⭐ iTunes Search/Lookup API — itunes.apple.com/lookup?id=<id> |
releaseDate = the real latest-episode date, trackCount, feedUrl |
Free, no key — the best tool for this problem. Run it before trusting any roundup post |
| Raw RSS feed | Full pubDate per episode + sponsor mentions in the show notes are countable |
Free. The sponsor tables above were extracted this way — the best competitor-intel trick here |
| Podscan.fm | Keyword alerts on podcast transcripts. Arvid Kahl's product | 10-day free trial, no card; then $100/mo (50 alerts) |
| Listen Notes | Listen Score (0–100) + percentile, full-text search of show notes/transcripts | Web search free; API 300 requests/mo free |
| Rephonic | 4M+ shows, listener estimates, similar-show graph, host contact info | $99–299/mo, 7-day trial |
| Apple category charts | Business → Entrepreneurship (?genre=1493) and Marketing (?genre=1492) |
Free |
| Podnews | Daily industry newsletter | Free |
⚠️ Chartable is DEAD — chartable.com → megaphone.spotify.com. Spotify shut it down in December 2024.
Every guide that recommends it is stale.
⚠️ Spotify category charts are unusable — /us/business returns 200 but it's an empty shell.
Use Apple for categories.
Roundup lists — how trustworthy?
| List | Date | Assessment |
|---|---|---|
| Transistor — Podcasts for bootstrappers | Oct 14, 2025 | ⭐ The best list for indie SaaS and uniquely honest: separates 15 active shows from 16 shut-down ones |
| Charle Agency — Top Ecommerce Podcasts | May 26, 2026 | Shopify Plus agency — a genuine practitioner roundup |
| ReferralCandy — 12 Best Shopify Podcasts | Jan 2026, reviewed Apr 2026 | Vendor content, but dated and accurate |
| ⚠️ Feedspot — Shopify Podcasts | "Updated today" | ❌ Don't trust the status column. Shows Vanguard (died 2019) and Across the Pond (died 2023) as "Active". Use it as a list of names only, verify yourself |
| ⚠️ Shopify Partners — Top 10 Podcasts for App Developers | Sep 29, 2017, never updated | ❌ Recommends Ruby Book Club. Completely obsolete. Shopify has no current developer-podcast list |
The clear finding on discovery: there is no maintained, trustworthy roundup list for Shopify-app-developer podcasts. The reliable method is mechanical: find candidates with the iTunes API → popularity floor via Listen Notes → expand with Rephonic's similar-show graph → verify
releaseDatebefore believing anything.
5. Two cross-cutting findings — worth more than any single show
① Merchants are replacing SaaS with AI-built internal tools — and saying so on air
It surfaced independently in five separate feeds in 2026. Four operator communities that don't share audiences converging on the same behavior is not noise:
- Andrew Faris, Apr 2, 2026 — "My COO replaced 7 software tools with one vibe-coded app"
- eComFuel, Aug 21, 2026 — "Claude Code First Company"; and Mar 14, 2025 — "How a non-programmer cut $150K in SaaS fees with AI"
- My Wife Quit Her Job, Jul 10, 2026 — "How we got 30 hours a week back with Claude Code"
- Limited Supply, Jul 29, 2026 — "Stop building landing pages by hand"
Every Shopify app whose value amounts to a form and a database is being commoditized right now. This should shape what you build, not just how you market it. If you listen to nothing else from this page, listen to these five.
② Sponsor lists are a free market map
2026 show-notes mention count:
| Show | Recurring sponsors (mentions) |
|---|---|
| Operators | Fulfil 40, Northbeam 36, Saras 36, Postscript 34 |
| Marketing Operators | Motion 37, Haus 26 |
| Andrew Faris | Intelligems 34 |
| Honest Ecommerce | Klaviyo 28, Intelligems 28 |
| eComFuel | None — funded by the $199–299/mo membership, not ads |
Categories that stand out: ERP, attribution/incrementality, SMS, data infrastructure, creative analytics, A/B testing. Conspicuously absent from the sponsor slots: reviews, loyalty, upsell, subscriptions — either these categories don't sponsor podcasts, or nobody has grabbed the slot.
6. If you only subscribe to five
- The Shopify App Show — exactly your business, and only 26 episodes to catch up on
- Shopify1Percent — an app founder explaining what convinces a merchant to pay
- Honest Ecommerce — your real buyer (6–8 figure merchants), and a realistic distribution target
- Startups For the Rest of Us — the craft of the solo software business
- Liquid Weekly — the only place where Shopify platform engineers get on the mic
Then Operators one episode a month (for the buy-vs-build signal) and Jason & Scot once a month (purely as platform-risk radar).
🎙️ Three shows you could appear on as a guest (in order of ease)
- Talk Commerce — very high publishing volume, easiest way in
- Ecommerce Coffee Break — explicitly hosts Shopify app founders and sells to SaaS
- Honest Ecommerce — the midweek vendor-showcase bonus episodes; the Aug 13, 2026 TestParty episode is the template to study
